Bilingual/Bicultural Indigenous Education

GOAL: $2,000 CURRENT: $376

This summer, TLC Transformations is supporting a cultural exchange with Kusi Kawsay, a k-8 bilingual Indigenous school in Pisac, Perú. Sami Straits, a 3rd grader at Coronado Elementary in Albuquerque, will be attending Kusi Kawsay for one month as a guest. The school, Kusi Kawsay, serves children from the Quechua-speaking nearby rural communities. Kusi Kawsay developed a curriculum that incorporates traditional language, customs and values in its educational model in order to promote the development of Indigenous leaders. TLC Transformations will be volunteering time and resources to the school while in Perú this summer.
